A voluntary, no-cost program offered to pregnant women and families with infants.
Baby R was born into this world with two loving parents. Two loving parents that were worried about her fussiness. She was initially diagnosed with colic and reflux. Then, she was hospitalized twice in her first few months of life, first for weight loss and second for seizures.
VNA partners with OneWorld Community Health Center to serve Douglas County’s most vulnerable young families. Healthy Families America (HFA) is a voluntary, no-cost program offered to pregnant women and families with infants who meet certain screening requirements.
The HFA program teaches positive parenting strategies to build healthy parent-child interactions and relationships. Nurses, social workers, and family support experts visit these families regularly until the child’s third birthday.
Families whose income is at or less than 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for services. We welcome non- or limited-English speaking families! Other screening requirements may apply – please contact Deanna Schlautman at dschlautman@vnatoday.org or (402) 930-4083.
