July 9, 2019 | VNA Staff | Press Releases

OMAHA, Neb., – VNA Hospice of Southwest Iowa (HSI) has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2018 calendar year.

The annual SHPBest™ award program was created to acknowledge hospice providers that consistently provide high quality service to families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care. The 2018 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Hospice survey satisfaction score for more than 1,000 hospice providers. With one of the largest CAHPS Hospice benchmarks in the nation, SHP is in a unique position to identify and recognize organizations that have made family and caregiver satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the CAHPS Hospice survey.

“SHP is proud to present the SHPBest awards to our top-performing customers. We commend these organizations for their continuous focus on delivering the highest quality of care to their patients,” said Rob Paulsson, President of SHP.

VNA HSI has provided care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families since 2007. VNA HSI proudly serves four counties in Southwest Iowa, including Harrison, Mills and Pottawattamie. All VNA HSI medical directors are hospice & palliative care certified. Two nurses are also certified in hospice and palliative care, providing an increased level of expertise in assisting families with end-of-life issues. VNA HSI is the only hospice provider in Pottawattamie County offering pediatric hospice services.

“Our team efforts to impact the community of Council Bluffs and Southwest Iowa are the motivation needed to excel in patient satisfaction, stated Claudia Hauser, VNA HSI Hospice Clinical Manager. “We will be proud to share this with our healthcare providers so they are confident in Hospice of Southwest Iowa’s performance.”
