“Everything that happens to us leaves some trace behind; everything contributes to make us what we are.” -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Kris oversees VNA’s community and public health services, something she considers a privilege and honor. These programs include Parenting Support and Home Visitation for pregnant and parenting families, School Nursing, Homeless Shelter Nursing, Flu Immunization Campaign, Cooking Matters, the Breast Cancer Patient Assistance Program, and Public Health Services in Pottawattamie County. Many of these programs are core mission services that are deeply rooted in VNA’s history and demonstrate the value placed on serving those most at need in our communities. Having been with VNA since 1986, Kris has seen many sides of the organization. She started as a school nurse, followed by Clinical Manager and Director of Community/Public Health Services.
Kris is a Registered Nurse and earned her BSN from the University Of Nebraska College Of Nursing, and has received the March of Dimes Excellence in Nursing Award. She is Past President of the Nebraska School Nurses Association, and is involved with Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless Provider Council. In her spare time, Kris likes to garden, bake, walk, and be a grandma to her two granddaughters, Berkley and Lainey and grandson, Beau (and grand dogs Sidney and Dutch). The rest of her family includes her husband Steve, father-in-law Roy, son Eric, and daughter and son-in-law, Alyssa and Scott.
